A good test for Havasha
Published by charl on February 6, 2010
LEADING three-year-old Havasha (photo), in which Freeracer Syndicate members John Finlayson, Karel Miedema and Charl Pretorius own shares with Tony Moodley and Mike de Kock, will be taking on older horses in the Listed Wolf Power Handicap over 1600m at Turffontein’s inside track Saturday.
Mike decided to bypass the very strong Tony Ruffel Handicap because Havasha would have been in a similar boat as Curved Ball having to give weight to some very talented individuals. While the Wolf Power is arguably an easier picking, it remains a stiff task for a young three-year-old and we’re hoping he can place, at least, which will give us big hopes for the rest of the season.
Havasha worked right alongside Rudra during the week and Mike said: “Rudra has had plenty of work after his layoff and he has always been a good work horse, so this was a fine prep gallop by Havasha. I hope he can put it together on Saturday. He is unbeaten at this track and I think he has the mettle to win. I’d say we have him fitter than he’s ever been.”
Those are encouraging words.
