De Kock in search of more Dubai success
Published by charl on February 17, 2010
MIKE de Kock will saddle two runners in each of the Meydan, Dubai features on Thursday, 18 February; the Group 3 UAE 2000 Guineas and the Group 3 Maktoum Challenge II. His yard has a good record in each.
Victory Moon, Asiatic Boy and Honour Devil all won both the UAE 2000 Guineas and Derby (Asiatic Boy is the only horse to have won the UAE Triple Crown) and the last two both won the same 1400m trial as Musir did a fortnight ago. Musir will be ridden by Christophe Soumillon with Kevin Shea sporting the second colours on Solid Choice who ran well behind his stable companion on his local debut.
They are drawn in the two widest gates but De Kock is not unduly concerned: “Both our jockeys are sensible and experienced enough to ride their own races so it is not a disaster. Solid Choice is worse off at the weights this time but will appreciate the extra furlong but Musir has a touch of class. He should stay and given luck in running has to have a big chance.” - mikedekockracing.com
