Lord Roy is today’s banker
Published by charl on March 10, 2010
LORD ROY (blue silks above), photographed near the rail, was a winner all the way but on the line in his most recent outing over 3000m at Scottsville. Jockey Aldo Domeyer thought he had the race in the bag, but Road To War finished too strong and Domeyer peered across to the other side of the track at the surprise winner (green silks).
Lord Roy takes on a field of similar strength in Race 4 at Clairwood this afternoon, this time over 2500m. He seems to be at the peak of his fitness and now that he has proven that he has enough stamina for this kind of trip he can be followed with confidence.
Anthony Delpech will hold Lord Roy’s reins for the in-form stable of Sean Tarry today and he is as good a banker as any on a card that seems to get trickier with every passing race.
